Bashir J. Aliyu, a Nigerian has been awarded a scholarship to study automotive design in the United States for designing a toy car. The car was presented to the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who gave Aliyu the scholarship award.
his administration “will continue to support exceptional students to further their education in order achieve their objectives.
“Having produced world-class car designer in the person of Jelani Aliyu, Sokoto is blessed with brilliant indigenes whose talents would be tapped and nurtured for the progress and development of the state.
“Our choice of United State is obvious. Jelani Aliyu is based there and we expect him to be a mentor to you to achieve your objectives in life.”
This is the second time a Nigerian has designed a car. Although this one is in form of a toy car but the first one was not.
Presently, Nigeria assembles lots of cars but maybe one day, there will be a breakthrough in the Nigerian technical-know-how and Nigeria will start developing and exporting cars to other countries.
